The green
team code of ethics for how they will work with each other
in 2.009 is:
- Always keep a positive outlook. 2.009 is a designated
sulk- and rant-free
zone. If something or someone upsets you, discuss it with
the proper
authorities and then let it go.
- Be safe in all you do and design; safety of customers,
other team members,
and yourself is paramount.
- Give only criticism which is constructive in nature. Keep
your comments
impersonal and brutally honest, yet be friendly. Ensure
that your criticism is
as specific and as clear as possible - if the listener appears
confused,
rephrase your criticism and try again.
- Separate your personal objectives from the team objectives
- the good of the
team comes before the desires of each of us individually.
- FOCUS: (The most important F word of them all...) Use
your creative
energies to help keep the train on its tracks, both in group
discussions and in the
project as a whole. Aim to keep meetings as efficient as
possible: finishing
early is never a bad thing!
- Respect (a) the team goals, (b) the project itself, (c)
the professors &
leaders of the team/section/class, (d) other teammates,
and (e) your own
abilities as a senior mechanical engineer.
- Be mindful of limits, both your own and those of the design.
Know when to ask
for help - never hide a lack of knowledge. Be supportive
of teammates who ask
for help. In your design, estimate carefully; design as
if designing for a
close family member.
- Check your ego at the door: be willing to compromise on
your ideas. Once
your ideas are released into the group, they are no longer
exclusively your own; let
them be free to evolve on their own!
